PORT Vale are Accrington Stanley’s visitors this evening as Dean Glover’s side travel to the Fraser Eagle Stadium for tonight’s Coca-Cola League Two clash.
John Coleman’s boys will be looking to complete the season double over the Valiants, after beating them 2-0 in the reverse fixture at Vale Park back in August. An outstanding freekick from former midfielder Ian Craney and a last minute header from Paul Mullin saw the Reds grab all three points.
Kick off in East Lancashire tonight is 7:45pm and a win for Stanley is vital tonight with the points handicapped teams started to snap at their heels. Port Vale currently lie two places above Stanley in the league pecking order in 17th, and a win for them would see them move seven points clear of Accrington.
Vale had a disappointing weekend by all accounts, with the team going down 3-1 at home to Luton Town who have hopes of getting out of the relegation zone. But before the game just short of 100 unhappy supporters staged a protest outside the ground, calling for manager Dean Glover to be removed and for the club to be put up for sale.
The Reds also lost 3-1 at the weekend, away at Aldershot Town thanks to goals from Kirk Hudson and a Jake Robinson double. Onloan Liverpool striker Craig Lindfield pulled a goal back for Accrington but it was too little too late.
Stanley will be without John Paul Kissock as he has returned to Everton after the end of his loan period, while Chris King, Peter Murphy and Leam Richardson are all ruled out of the game through injury.
Come on you Stanley!
