ACCRINGTON Stanley boss John Coleman officially signed defender Colin Murdock on Tuesday morning, after the 32-year-old had verbally agreed the move two weeks ago.

Murdock a central defender had been in search of a new club for a matter of weeks following his release from rival League Two outfit Shrewsbury Town at the end of the 2007/08 campaign.

Colin has put pen to paper on a on-year contract at the Fraser Eagle Stadium, and becomes Coleman’s first capture of the close season.

Manchester United saw Murdock begin his career before signed for local neighbours Preston North End where he made over 200 appearances for the lilywhites. A further 300 appearances followed between moves to Crewe Alexander, Rotherham United, Shrewsbury and with SPL side Hibernian.

He has also been capped 32 times by Northern Ireland.
