ACCRINGTON STANLEY have this morning made a club record signing, buying Ian Craney from Swansea City in a deal thought to be around £85,000.

Craney, who left the Fraser Eagle Stadium for League One outfit, Swansea at the beginning of last season has put pen to paper on a three and a half-year contract at Accrington.

The 25 year-old hasn’t enjoyed the best of times in Wales, being down the pecking order and being at the centre of abuse from home fans, and initially came back to Stanley on loan, a loan spell which ended days before the defeat to Bradford.

Craney stepped straight back in to the role he left, upon return to East Lancashire, once again becoming a vital figure in the centre of the park.

‘I’m delighted to be back here at Accrington, I have great memories from the Conference winning season and it’s been fantastic coming back on loan these last few months.’ Craney said speaking to the Official Stanley website.

Craney continued: ‘Accrington Stanley is a terrific club with a great manager and is well set up behind the scenes. The club has big ambitions and I look forward to achieving more success here in the future.’

Ian will wear the number 23 during the rest of the season, and will also be available to play against Chester City at the Fraser Eagle Stadium on Saturday.

Welcome home Ian.
