Ahead of today’s game against Tranmere Rovers, the club released a statement concerning news of a High Court appearance on Monday relating to a winding up order that was issued.

The statement from the club is to provide clarity on the issue and assure fans that it is purely a procedural matter concerning a payment that has already been settled so the future of the club isn’t in question.

The full statement can be read on the Official Site.

Chairman Peter Marsden explained.

‘This order concerns a payment due in early July that was paid off shortly after the date it was issued. All orders that have been issued remain on the court record and that’s why this one is still appearing on the listings.’

Marsden goes on to say that obviously the summer is a tough time for the club because revenues are obviously far lower than normal, but we did endeavour to pay the HMRC bill as soon as we could and it was settled within a few days.
