LOCAL rivals Burnley will travel to the Fraser Eagle Stadium on Saturday July 14th as Accrington Stanley aim to kick off Pre-Season with a bang. Kick off for the game will be 3 pm.

Stanley’s best result against Burnley in the annual Pre-Season fixture is a 1-1 draw back in July 2003.

The year after, Stanley lost 2-1, with a crowd of just under 3,000 crammed in to the Fraser Eagle Stadium, or as it was then known, The Interlink.

July 2005 saw Stanley crash to a 3-0 defeat, and the last friendly between the teams ended in a 3-2 Burnley win. Stanley actually led 2-0 at Half-Time with Burnley playing a under strength team.

But half-time brought change and goals from Andy Gray, Alan Mahon and Steve Jones clinched the second half turn around.

The Paul Cook testimonial saw a fantastic game of football between his former club’s Burnley and Accrington Stanley at The Fraser Eagle Stadium, with a cracking 4-4 scoreline.

Ticket details and prices for the game will be announced shortly.
