James Gray has said Stanley are more than capable of repeating our Southend performance, but next time we’ll take maximum points from the game and pull away from the bottom of the table.
Speaking to the Official Site following the draw, Gray thinks the signs are all there for the players to have faith that things will soon improve and we’ll start picking up more victories.
‘Everybody looks at the table and it’s not looking too good, but you can see that Southend are up there and will beat most teams but we played them off the park. We could’ve easily had three points.’
Gray adds that the management team said that was the best performance all season, and now they’ve laid that marker that has to be how we perform in the future, and we have to do it consistently – more importantly they believe the players are capable of doing that.
Gray also admits that he thinks he should’ve scored in the first half, but it was good work from the defender, but it’s just a shame we couldn’t get a two goal lead and maybe put the game beyond them.
‘I probably could have had a hattrick but I’m happy with my goal and my performance.’
He should be, with his last start coming back in November, he should’ve certainly given Richardson something to think about in the games coming up.
