Assistant manager Paul Stephenson has now departed Accrington Stanley by mutual consent today.

The 46 year old came in to work alongside former manager Leam Richardson back in 2012/13 and more than played his part in our turnaround of form under him, and then under James Beattie last season after he made the transition from player to manager following Richardson’s departure.

Having guided us to victory in his first game in charge as caretaker manager following Beattie’s departure Stephenson said he only good memories from his time at the club and he explained to the Official Site.

‘I’d particularly like to thank the players who are a great group of lads and have been fantastic throughout, even after James left. A large number of the players have changed over the last couple of years so I have got to know them very well and worked closely alongside them. It’s also like to thank the fans who have been great throughout my time with the club.’
