ACCRINGTON STANLEY are once again left swetting over their League Two safety after a 2-0 defeat at the Fraser Eagle Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Two second half goals were good enough to kill of John Coleman’s Reds, as Adam Birchall nodded home on 53minutes, before Michael Leary added an identical second.
Just a point would have been good enough to safely secure another season in Coca-Cola Football League Two, but again it proved to be an elusive one at that.
To compound Stanley’s fears, a Michael Boulding hattrick for second to bottom Mansfield Town, secured the Stags a 3-1 victory over Shrewsbury, who sit just a place above Stanley, purely on goal difference.
Accrington and Shrewsbury are both mathematically catchable, so both managers must be swetting, but to be fair, I don’t think they can be caught by the chasing clubs that are currently proping them up.
With two games to go and only one point needed, it doesn’t sound like a hard task, but Stanley vitally need support behind them, so come on and get behind the boys.
Stanley travel to bottom of the league Wrexham, who have a lot mroe to play for than Stanley, as they have to win all three of their remaining games to stay in the league.
So get booked on the coach, get your ticket and get to Wrexham and support the lads donning the famous red of Accrington Stanley. Not forgetting the last game of the season the Lancashire Derby with Bury Town at the Fraser Eagle Stadium, what a game that would be if League Two safety went down to the last day of the season.
