VitalStanley, would like to pay tribute to a ultimate Accrington Stanley legend in Paul Mullin after he became the clubs record appearance maker.

Paul Mullin was born on March 16th, 1974 in Bury. Paul is the older brother of Tranmere Rovers midfielder John Mullin, who used to play for local side Burnley.

Paul started his career with Sunday league side Darwen, before moving on to Trafford, Clitheroe and Radcliffe Borough.

Paul caught the eye of John Coleman whilst playing for Radcliffe Borough and in 2000, Paul Mullin joined Accrington Stanley for a fee of £15,000.

Stanely fans questioned their manager’s decision in signing Mullina t first, but after a few appearances, he began to win fans around and soon became a firm fans favourite at the Crown Gorund, now known as the Fraser Eagle Stadium.

Mullin’s most famous goal for Stanley, came earlier in the season on the 21st August 2006, when Accrington Stanley won their first ever Carling Cup game against two times European Champions Nottingham Forest, with Paul scoring the only goal on the 61 minutes mark.

Mullin is on 15 goals this season for Stanley and is in my honist opinion one of the best strikers in the league, and thats not a biased opinion.

Keep it up Paul, a true Stanley legend!
