ACCRINGTON Stanley this mornining started Pre-Season training ahead of the up and coming Coca-Cola League Two season.

Among several trialists will be a former Liverpool midfielder and a former Premiership striker, who is also brother to Stanley’s record appearance maker.

As Vital Accrington Stanley had reported last week, former Sunderland, Burnley, Rotherham and Tranmere front man John Mullin will be on trial with the club, where he hopes to link up with brother Paul.

Also on trial with Stanley will be former Liverpool and Shrewsbury Town midfielder Jimmy Ryan. The 19-year-old started off his career with Liverpool, and soon won the FA Youth Cup with the Merseysiders in both 2006 and 2007.

Ryan is a well established midfielder for Ireland’s International Youth side winning numerous caps and would be a fantastic signing for the Reds.

He also has a great strike on him and is well known in Liverpool for his ‘Steven Gerrard like shots’, as he can strike and score with great precision from distance.

He moved to Shrewsbury on loan in 2006, but only made one appearance in a one month loan spell, but a year later following his release from Liverpool made the switch to Shrewsbury permanent.

Vital Stanley contacted Liverpool F.C. who described Jimmy as ‘A good central midfielder with a great engine and an eye for a pass.’
