ACCRINGTON STANLEY defender Aswad Thomas has been included in League Two’s Official Team of the Week following his man of the match display on Saturday.

Thomas, 18, scored twice in Stanley’s 3-2 victory over Chester City on Saturday afternoon, a game in which was only his secong since joining on loan from Championship side Charlton Athletic.

The young commanding centre back is already a hit with the Stanley faithful and is being compared to last seasons’ loan saviour, Godwin Antwi, who joined on loan from Liverpool.

Stanley gaffer John Coleman is clearly delighted with his capture insisting he has a winninf mentality, something which can only be good for the club.

‘He’s shown a great attitude, a great willingness to be part of the team and he’s shown he’s got a great winning mentality,’ said Coleman speaking to the Official website.

‘Popping up with goals from defence will always help, but I’ve been really happy with the way he has embraced League Two football.

‘He has showed no airs or graces coming from a higher team and I think he’ll only get better.’
