THREE ex-Accrington Stanley loanee goalkeepers took a place in a Premiership game today, as Liverpool met Charlton Athletic at Anfield.

Darren Randolph started the game for Charlton whilst Rob Elliot, who was a large contributor to Stanley’s Nationwide Conference success was bench warming for the Addicks.

The latest of the Stanley goalkeeper loanees, David Martin was a substitute for Rafa Benitez’s Liverpool for the game.

As soon as I saw the team sheet for Liverpool I instantly though, please Padelli get injured in the warm up (no offence to the lad) so Martin can play and then he will concede a ton of goals and they’ll soon get shut of him and we can get him for next season!

But my dream was soon dashed.

With Jerzy Dudek gone at Liverpool, there is only three goalkeepers, so unless Rafa gets out his cheque book to sign another, I think we can safely say he won’t be coming back to join the Stanley next season.
