THE Reds started their Pre-Season training schedule on Monday with a number of trialists joining the club in a bid to impress manager John Coleman ahead of the new campaign.

Accrington, kitted out in their new blue training kit, have taken former Macclesfield and Oldham frontman Matt Tipton, ex Everton and Wigan men Luke Powell and Lewis Field along with Gary King, who was recently released by Lincoln City.

‘To be honest, we have limited the number of triallists this season,’ said Coleman speaking to the Accrington Observer.

‘I think we got a bit swamped last season. But all of them have a chance to stake a claim for a place and we will have a look at them.’

Captain Peter Cavanagh is training with the club although he is not under contract as the club are waiting to hear the outcome of the betting inquiry which is due in August.
