Jordan Mustoe, Connor Martin and James Alabi have all left Accrington Stanley.

Mustoe and Martin had signed short term contracts with the club and they have now expired, and on loan James Alabi has also now returned to parent club Stoke City following the expiry of his month with us.

Mustoe leaves us having made six appearances for the club, and youngster Martin was a regular during pre season earning himself the short term contract after impressing and with manager James Beattie wanting to take a closer look at him.

Alabi leaves us having made three appearances in his month at the club.

Manager James Beattie said of the departures.

‘I’d like to thank the lads for all of their hard work, they’ve all played a part in our start to the season and we hope that they have success as their careers continue.’

He goes on to say that with finances at the club as they are, a few have had to be let go to reduce our weekly outgoings and it really was as ‘simple as that.’

He went on to say that anything he was now looking at in terms of bringing players in to improve the quality of the team would have to be ‘free loans or very cheap loans’ and he was expecting that he’d have to call in a favour or two from people he knew in the game to make that happen.

The gaffer went on to say that everybody was back in training ahead of the game this weekend, but Michael Liddle had ‘tweaked’ his knee and it was the same knee he injured last week so he required closer inspection.

Unfortunately, as fans now know, less than 24 hours later after giving that interview, the club were announcing Beattie’s departure.
