Chesterfield hattrick hero Lee Molyneux has said it was an unbelievable win for Accrington last Saturday, and having hit the hattrick it felt better than the hattrick he hit last season against Barnet.

Three first half goals from the on loan man gave us all three points in the game against the league leaders, and speaking to the Official Site following the match, the midfielder explained.

‘It’s an unbelievable win, especially with us going down to ten men as well, we’ve had to work very hard for the victory but we’re on 40 points now and what a way to do it!’

Molyneux goes on to say that he hasn’t thought too much about goals, as the main thing for him has been playing games again following his move away from us last summer, because getting game time was the driver on him coming out on loan in the first place, so any goal he can get is a bonus and any goal that returns points for Stanley is the icing on the cake for him.

Having come up against, and put to the sword, two former gaffers of his in the shape of Paul Cook and Leam Richardson, Molyneux admits it was a very strange experience to come up against both of them at the same time but there was no way he wasn’t going to celebrate the goals against them.

For him, he’s happy for people to continue to joke that he doesn’t have a right foot either, but if they line up like that he’ll have a pop and thankfully that attempt ‘trickled’ into the corner for us.

He does admit that coming up against former gaffer’s he doesn’t know if that added an incentive for the players, but he definitely knows the fans enjoyed it!
