We simply threw it all away!

BRADFORD City staged one amazing comeback at the Fraser Eagle Stadium on Saturday afternoon as Michael Boulding, Barry Conlon and Peter Thorne earned City all three points.

With ten minutes to go in East Lancashire the scoreboard read: Accrington Stanley 2-0 Bradford City. But then disaster for John Coleman’s Stanley side, who are now eight games without a win in all competitions.

The excitement was all around the ground as Jimmy Ryan and Terry Gornell fired Stanley into a convincing lead, but as soon as Boulding hit the back of Kenny Arthur’s net, it was clear to see that we were in trouble.

The atmosphere dropped in the Stanley end but grew in the opposition stand, and Stanley heads dropped on the pitch but picked up on the field and from then on it was an uphill battle for Accrington who just didn’t have it in them to battle it out until the final whistle.

Former Liverpool and Shrewsbury midfielder Ryan opened the scoring for Stanley after 23 minutes, a lead which lasted into the half time break before Tranmere loanee Terry Gornell doubled the lead on 50 minutes.

Then there was a crash which was comparable to the current crisis with the banks as Stanley went from a two goal lead to a 3-2 losing scoreline in the blink of an eye.

Boulding pulled the first goal back on 80 minutes, before Conlon’s header in the 88th minute pulled the Yorkshire men level. And the utterly unbelievable turn around was over when Thorne bagged just a minute before the end leaving Bradford’s boys ecstatic.

Not doubt Coleman and Jimmy Bell will be laying into the boys at the Full Time whistle after throwing it all away and leaving themselves dangerously close to the bottom two who still find themselves on minus points.

What a real shame. That one result could just turn our winless run on it’s head but confidence is clearly low in the Stanley camp at the moment.
