Manager John Coleman has said he’s delighted to have seen Stanley get their third successive win last weekend in the game against Mansfield.

A Luke Joyce penalty gave us the win and the manager told the Official Site.

‘I’m delighted for the players, they put a hell of a lot of effort into it. Mansfield are a very good side at home so to come here and win is a great achievement for the players. I thought we were absolutely magnificent in the first half hour. We were playing like a team that was top of the league, we had a swagger and a belief about us.’

Coleman goes on to say that all game long he felt we were dangerous on the counter attack and always looked capable of scoring when we went forward, but he had to admit that at times in the game we did definitely ride our luck, so he’s looking for more improvements in that department but sometimes in football you have to make your own luck to pick up a result and if we can get those kinds of rub of the green until that improvement comes then all the better.

‘The back four have put a great shift in, poor Tom Aldred has come off having lost a tooth and I know how vain these young boys get! Hopefully he has a good career and ends up with a nose like mine!’

The gaffer ends by saying that if anybody had offered him two successive clean sheets as well following the Northampton game he would’ve ‘bitten’ their hand off for it, so to see us do is another source of pleasure for him as it means we are on the right track defensively which is something he wanted to see.
