John Coleman maintained his 100% record since returning to Accrington when he guided us to another win at the weekend.

An early strike was enough to see Stanley to a 1-0 win over Mansfield Town at the One Call Stadium on Saturday afternoon, with the visitors ending the game with 10-men.

Marcus Carver and Kal Naismith had both forced Mansfield ‘keeper Sasha Studer into saved in the open 10-minutes before he conceded a penalty, which gave us another chance to take the lead..

After the foul on Carver it was our captain Luke Joyce (10) who stepped up and fired home from the spot to give us a one-nil lead.

Studer was definitely being kept busy with him having to save further Sean Maguire and Naismith efforts as we controlled most the game.

Aaron Chapman had some saves to make during the game mind, keeping out a Matt Rhead effort, which was straight at him, with Rakish Bingham and Lee Beevers failing to trouble him.

Adam Murray and Bingham did go closer in the second half but when Mansfield had captain Murray sent off for catching Rob Atkinson, as he looked to let a ball run out of play, a chance to come back ended.

Atkinson almost wrapped up the points in injury-time but his effort was headed off the line by Fergus Bell.
