What a return to Accrington for John Coleman, a nine-goal thriller and all three-points isn’t something you would be opposed to as a travelling fan!

Accrington went into the game at Sixfields on Saturday knowing that our opponents Northampton Town had smashed home five-goals in a game a few days earlier, when they hit four again on Saturday it wasn’t enough with us winning 5-4.

Coleman’s second spell in charge of Stanley started well with us scoring around the midway point when Robert Atkinson (22) headed home, just minutes later Marc Richards (26) drew Northampton level though.

A further two-minutes later Blackburn Rovers loanee John O’Sullivan (28) restored our lead before Atkinson (37) added his second to make it three-one at the break.

O’Sullivan (75) added his second with only 15-minutes to play to make it four-one yet the home side battled on with Ivan Toney (78) coming on to reduce the deficit again.

Finally, five-minutes from time, the win was secured (or so we thought) with the three-goal cushion back in place when Sean Maguire (84) scored.

A last minute goal from Toney (89) and an injury-time striker from Darren Carter (90) left us a little concerned but those goals were too late as we won five-four.
