BLACKBURN Rugby Club’s Ramsgreave Drive looks set to become Accrington Stanley’s new permanent training base, after facilities impressed Reds bosses last week.
John Coleman’s men were set to begin using the facility for the first time at the beginning of December, but after sub zero temperatures and heavy snowfall in East Lancashire, Stanley were forced to move to indoor venues.
But it was all worth the wait for Stanley’s players as they are said to be delighted with the base, as it gives the squad a feeling of togetherness, which is vital if they are to pull away from the bottom half of League Two.
Stanley midfielder Luke Joyce lead the praise for the facilities, but insisted that a few little things needed to change as football takes over the rugby base.
“The pitch is more suited to rugby at the moment but I`m sure work will be done on that,” he said speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph.
“It`s good to have somewhere to have meetings now rather than having to go back to the ground and have them in the dressing room.
‘It is good as well to be able to eat together, things like that, with the banter it is nice.”
