ACCRINGTON STANLEY went down 3-0 at home to Lincoln City, leaving sections of their Fraser Eagle support shouting for manager John Coleman’s head, saying that it is time for a change in management.

The defeat was Stanley’s 10th loss at home this season, no wonder season tickets are at an all time low in Accy, leaving Coleman’s boys in 17th place in League Two.

And that isn’t being welcomed by the Reds’ faithful, who had to go through the agony of a relegation battle last season, and don’t want to go through it again.

At one moment Stanley were just points from the play-offs earlier in the season, but that is now a thing of the past and the club and the town alike are going to have to unite to bring the club through what could be a tough time.

Mark Stallard opened the scoring after just six minutes on the night, slotting past Ian Dunbavin from close range after Lenell John-Lewis’ cross in to the Stanley area.

Stanley picked up their heads when they so easily could have dropped and were unlucky not to be on equal terms, on-loan midfield dynamo Andy Todd saw his inch perfect knock in to the box fly past Alan Marriot’s near post.

Accrington were on top of the game and once again Ian Craney looked a constant threat to the Lincoln backline, but both Craney and fellow midfielder Jay Harris missed glorious chances to draw the Reds level. However the best chance fell to Shaun Whalley who smashed his shot against the crossbar on the stroke of half-time.

Lincoln substitute Ben Wright was on hand to double the vistors’ lead, tapping home Stallard’s perfect cross field ball. Then it got worse for Stanley, just five minutes later, on 75minutes, Lee Beevers finished off Louis Dodds’ corner.

The score was unfair on Stanley, and afterwards John Coleman smashed the boo boys. Interview coming soon on Accrington VitalFootball.
